If there is one thing that the California Coast is known for, it is its wonderful beaches. These beaches are great for sunbathing because they include lots of sunshine, sand, swimming, and plenty of amenities for a great vacation.

Beginning with San Diego County and moving to the other Southern California beaches, the sunshine is plentiful. Although every beach in California has the potential to be a great sunbathing beach, the Northern California beaches are not as sunny.

From Sonoma to the Oregon border, the beaches offer great beachcombing opportunities, but the sun is not as concentrated or even out as often as it is in the south.

So now that you know the southern beaches are the best with their pale to medium-colored sand, you now know where to go. And just to let you know what you can do while at these beaches, you have cliffs, lots of waves, coves, and the warmest temperatures that you will find along California’s coast.

The only location you really want to avoid is the Palm Desert region because it is very hot. You can find the best sunbathing opportunities at Ocean Beach, Silver strand, Imperial Beach, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Carlsbad, Del Mar, San Onofre, Oceanside, Dana Point’s Doheny, San Clemente, Corona Del Mar, Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, Torrance Beach, Long Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Venice Beach, Play del Rey, Hermosa Beach, Malibu, Oxnard Dockweiler Beach, Ventura, Goleta, Santa Barbara, and Carpinteria.

As the temperatures drop, there are the hidden coves of Avila Beach and Pismo Beach, as well as Capitola and Santa Cruz.
