The best places to see exotic underwater wildlife Jul 22

If you have never known that scuba diving is one of the greatest sport that let’s you explore the sea as well, then you are missing a great deal of life. You need to claim your share of fun and explore the best that is available in marine wildlife. Forget about what you see in to see features that come to you via your favorite channel, you can see the real thing with your own naked eyes. If you are armed with an underwater camera then there is no telling the amount of fun you are going to savor and capture in film. If you have enjoyed swimming on the surface of the sea, then an invitation to the undersea is in order for your taking.

You need to extend your sense of adventure to some very inviting destination where you get to see the real underwater world and interact with beautiful animals in their own world. Talk of a place like Palau. Let the location of this tiny south pacific island not mislead you to thinking that you are not in for any action.  This has become the Mecca of wreck diving since 1969. You will remember it from the filming of the sinking of the Japanese Pacific fleet in Jacques Cousteau’s film. You will discover wrecks dating back to the Second World War whose new inhabitants are close to 200 species of marine life including rays, turtles, and corals.

If you want to discover the greatest number of shark species then Palau is the place to come to.  There are over 130 threatened species that you will find here and almost nowhere else. You will be visiting what has been aptly called the world’s shark sanctuary and what with the local government banning all manner of commercial shark harvesting. Apart from Palau you may also want to visit the famous Galapagos Islands. These islands are famous as the inspiration of Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution.  Found in Ecuador, this popular tourist destination is now a UNESCO world heritage site and you will also find a great number of endemic wildlife waiting for your camera.

Galapagos Islands are famous for some of the most exotic sea creatures such as manta rays, sea lions, turtles, sea cucumbers, star fish and the best of Galapagos crabs to name just but a few. These waters enjoy international protection and therefore the fish you will find here need not have fear for humans, and truly they don’t.  Diving in the Galapagos works only too well for experienced divers thanks to the presence of volcanic drop offs instead of the usual coral reefs. The result of this is the presence of very strong ocean currents that a novice may not manage to handle.
